The Teaching Research Institute (TRI) of Western Oregon University is seeking a full-time Director for the National Consortium on Deaf-Blindness (NCDB). NCDB, part of the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Special Education Programs national technical assistance and dissemination (TA&D) network, works collaboratively with families, a variety of federal, state and local agencies, as well as colleges and universities across the country to provide technical assistance, information services and personnel training. The Director of NCDB is responsible for all activities of the project and its day-to-day management.

Education

The School of Education and Human Development (SEHD) and the Center for Evidence-Based Practice in Early Learning at the University of Colorado at Denver have announced a competitive early intervention (EI)/early childhood special education leadership (ECSEL) postdoctoral fellowship program beginning in Fall Term 2009. Up to four postdoctoral fellows will be selected for a 10 month appointment. The postdoctoral fellows filling this position will study a core program of national EI/ECSE policy, advocacy, systems and collaborative leadership related to young children with disabilities, birth to age five and their families with Dr. Barbara J. Smith. The program fellows will apply these competencies to one of four specialized content areas that represent national areas of critical need:

  • Culturally and Linguistically Responsive Services: Drs. Susan Moore and Sheila Shannon
  • Young Children with Autism: Dr. Phil Strain
  • Paraeducators and Other Non-degreed Personnel: Dr. Ritu Chopra
  • Social Emotional Development and Challenging Behavior: Dr. Barbara J. Smith
