The Principals Project

Overview

The "Principal's Project," an OSEP-funded initiative spearheaded by Christine Salisbury, the National Institute's Chicago Site Liaison, and Anne Smith, the National Institute's Project Officer, has completed its work and its 'lessons learned' can be found below. The "Principal's Project" supported principals from Maine, Pennsylvania, Missouri, and Colorado to engage in reflective practice and action research to inform their building level-school activities.

Building Level Indicators of Effective Practice and The Reflective Principal were informed by these principals as they actively worked to create inclusive learning communities, responsive to the learning styles and needs of a full array of students, including those with disabilities.

Building Level Indicators of Effective Practice

Building Level Indicators of Effective Practice provides school leaders with a tool to complete a simple, yet comprehensive, self-assessment of their schools. To view the publications below please download Adobe Reader.

The Reflective Principal

The Reflective Principal is a compilation of reflections shared by participating principals and may help others understand the nature and value of the reflective process, and its potential benefit for students, teachers, and school improvement.

The Appointment Book

This resource gives principals a practical tool for implementing action research/building- based inquiry within their very busy days.
